Conservatory Auditions

An audition is required of applicants who plan to pursue any of our degree options with a major in music, and applicants who would like to be considered for an Ensemble Award.

Online registration for 2009 auditions will begin September 2008.

On-campus auditions are required of all students who live within 350 miles of campus. For Fall 2008 admission, on-campus auditions were held on the following Saturdays:

January 19
February 2*
February 16*
February 23

* Music education workshops are offered on these dates.

Applicants who live within 350 miles of a regional audition site are expected to audition at that site or on campus. 2008 regional auditions were held in the following locations:

Portland, Ore. - January 6
Seattle - January 7
Denver - January 9
Atlanta - January 14
Houston - January 15
Boston - January 22
New York - January 23
Washington, D.C. - January 25
Interlochen, Mich. - January 28
Los Angeles - February 5
San Francisco - February 7

If distance prevents a live audition, either on campus or at a regional site, an audio or video recording may be submitted. Audition recordings should be of the best possible sound quality and must be properly labeled with name, instrument/voice part, and repertoire. Students should also submit a signed statement that the performance is by the applicant.
