Preparing for Lawrence

Please activate your Lawrence account as soon as possible. This allows you to access your Lawrence email, the network (once here) and Voyager, Lawrence University’s student information system—the online place where you’ll be able to apply for housing, register for classes, and (eventually) check your grades.

Step 1: Activate your Lawrence account

Steps to activate your account:

  1. From your Internet browser go to the Lawrence University Account Center at https://viking.lawrence.edu/.  The account center allows users to manage their network account, connect to Web Mail (email) and access Lawrence Voyager.
  2. Click Change my Password
  3. At the Captcha prompt enter the letters displayed and click Verify Captcha
  4. Enter your username from your deposit confirmation letter
  5. Enter the password from your deposit confirmation letter
  6. Click Login
  7. Select three security questions and supply the answers and then click Submit
  8. In the password field enter a new password of your choice.  Retype your new password in the Confirm field.
    1. Note: Your new password must meet the following conditions:
      1. MUST be at least 8 characters in length. ITS recommends less than 14 characters.
      2. Contain characters from three of the following four categories:
        1. at least one uppercase English character (A through Z)
        2. at least one lowercase English character (a through z)
        3. at least one numeral (0 through 9)
        4. Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
  9. Click Change Password
  10. Click Return to Main Menu. After about 5 minutes, you will be able to use your account and new password to access your Voyager and email account

Step 2: Access your Voyager account

Voyager is Lawrence University’s student information system—the online place where you’ll be able to apply for housing, register for classes, and (eventually) check your grades.

To access your account follow these steps:

  1. Log on to Voyager at https://bannerweb.lawrence.edu/ (no “www”)
  2. Click on the “ Students, Faculty, Staff” link
  3. At the prompt enter your Username and password which you created and activated above

Step 3: Access your Lawrence e-mail

After setting up your Lawrence account, you'll have access to your official Lawrence email account. Lawrence offers a Web-based email client called Web Mail. Check it regularly—even if it means forwarding it to your current personal account—because Lawrence faculty and staff will start sending critical information to that account immediately.

Logging into your e-mail account:

  1. Navigate to: https://webmail.lawrence.edu/
  2. Click on the Office 365 box
  3. At the Sign in box, enter your username with @lawrence.edu added to the end of it (ie, smithj@lawrence.edu)
  4. At the Password field, enter the password you created upon activation of your account

Note: To protect your privacy, Web Mail sessions close automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity. You can access Web Mail on or off campus directly at  https://webmail.lawrence.edu/.
