The music education department at Lawrence University provides an extraordinary
opportunity for students interested in careers as professional educators. The
music education major, within the Bachelor of Music degree, offers four possible
areas of emphasis: General, Choral/General, Instrumental/General, and Instrumental,
all of which result in certification to teach kindergarten through twelfth
grade.
Any student interested in the music education major is encouraged
to submit a 1-2 page essay on a subject pertaining to the field of music education. The
essay may be submitted in word form to music-ed@lawrence.edu.
Students may apply for music education scholarships by attending one of
the music education workshops offered on specified on-campus audition dates. Register online for the music education workshops.
