Some past events include:
- Shack-a-Thon is an annual event where students build shacks out of found and recycled materials and live in them for an entire weekend. Local groups sponsor shacks and all the money raised goes to the Lawrence chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
- SWAHP (Students War Against Hunger and Poverty) is a student group that educates the Lawrence and Appleton community about world hunger and poverty. They hold fundraisers and food drives for local food pantries and homeless shelters.
- LARY Buddy’s are Lawrence students who tutor elementary students in math, science, reading, and social studies.
- VITAL Tutor’s are Lawrence students who work with students throughout the Appleton school district, tutoring in a variety of disciplines with a variety of ages.
- PALS (Pioneers and Lawrence Students) is volunteer program at Pioneer Village Retirement Home. Lawrence students spend time reading and talking with Pioneer residents throughout the week.
- Habitat for Humanity: Lawrence students work with the local Habitat chapter to deconstruct houses to support the ReStore and construct houses in the Fox Valley. The Lawrence group takes a spring break trip every year to locations in need of help. In 2006 Lawrence’s Habitat chapter spent a week in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans deconstructing condemned buildings and constructing houses in the Musicians Village.
