Located in Steitz Hall of Science, opened in the year 2000, we share a large research lab and several smaller support spaces, instrument rooms, and microscopy facilities with three other research groups. The lab is composed entirely of undergraduate students who elect to do research for a summer, an academic year, or even several summers plus an academic year. Students may elect to write an honors thesis based on their work in the lab. We have a few lab traditions – a canoe trip every summer, picnics, strawberry picking, and lab meetings at which students learn to talk about their work. Students have the opportunity to present their research at regional and international conferences as well as in local seminar series and poster sessions.
