President Jill Beck established the Office of Engaged Learning (OEL) in 2007 with generous support from the Pieper Family Foundation. The Pieper Chair in Servant Leadership directs the OEL with administrative support from the Provost’s Office. The mission of the Office of Engaged Learning is to develop and support student leadership through programs that connect the academic curriculum and community service.
The OEL provides funding and training to faculty interested in community-engaged research and teaching. We also work to connect faculty and community organizations and to raise the profile of community service and civic engagement on the Lawrence campus generally. A partial list of community organizations who have worked with Lawrence faculty on service learning projects includes:
-
Housing Partnership of the Fox Cities
-
Appleton Career Academy
-
