Sometimes it may seem, in this age of rapid changes, that a tradition is something that is happening for the second time. Not so, however, at Lawrence University, where a rich and varied institutional history is valued, preserved, and celebrated and where the best traditions of student life, campus events, and bygone days are honored and observed.
Here are some of the more important -- or, at least, longest-lived -- Lawrence traditions, customs, and symbols. For a more detailed look, please see Time and Traditions, published during Lawrence's sesquicentennial year, 1996-97.
